TIME TO TEST IF ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE, National Chairman, All Progressive Congress, APC, still commands the respect and enjoys the popularity of his kinsmen and political associates in Edo State, which he relished as Governor of the state for eight years.
He has been, allegedly, suspended from Edo State APC, over his role in the political crisis that have immersed Edo State, and the state chapter of the party, after “vote of no confidence” was passed on him by Chairmen of All Progressive Congress, APC, in 18 local government areas of the State.
What impact the suspension would have on Oshiomhole and his supporters is uncertain. Oshiomhole, and his godson and incumbent governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, have been in epic battle for the soul of Edo State.
Signed statement by Anselm Ojenua, Edo APC Chairman, and Ikuenobe Anthony, Assistant State Secretary, Tuesday, night said: “Consequent on the development, the State Executive Committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state.”
“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the one behind the crisis in Edo APC. We have passed a vote of no confidence in him and he stands suspended from the party. “We don’t want what happened in Zamfara State or other parts ofthe country to happen in Edo State,” the statement added.
The decision, they said, became necessary to prevent the repeat of Zamfara State crisis, that led to the party losing out, all elective positions to the opposition party, during the 2019 general elections.
Both actors, in media spaces, have denied any strong disagreement between them. Development, such as this, shows definite cracks and uncalm political relationship between Governor Obaseki and Oshiomhole.
