UNEASY LIES THE HEAD that wears the APC crown. So, it was with the tenure of John Odigie-Oyegun, former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, whom Oshiomhole succeeded. Today, it is Oshiomhole’s turn, receiving the heat of political intrigues.
An Abuja High Court, Wednesday, ordered that Oshiomhole stop parading himself as the party’s National Chairman, having been, earlier suspended as member of the party in his home Ward, in Edo State. There has been political maneuvering at the national level of the party, as a result of the court order.
Oshiomhole, this afternoon, is at the Presidential Villa, meeting with President Buhari on the situation. While Nigerian Police is keeping vigil at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, to avert breakdown of law and order.
After meeting President Buhari, Oshiomhole said he came to brief the president on the developments in the party, as the national leader. He alleged that a serving minister and some governors are responsible for his present travails in the party. He, however, did not name those involved.
While Oshiomhole was battling to vacate the Abuja High Court judgement restraining him from office as national chairman of the party, through Court of Appeal, a Federal High Court, Kano, presided over by Justice Lewis Allagoa, Thursday, set aside the ruling of Abuja High Court.
Justice Lewis Allagoa ordered the Police and Department of State Service, DSS, to provide security for Oshiomhole to resume as national chairman of the party.
