ATIKU ABUBAKAR -- PDP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

DESPITE SEEMING setback, ignited by Nysome Wike and his allies, to Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign take-off, the former vice president, Monday, in Abuja, made strategic appointments of special advisers ahead of the campaigns, according to statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.

Bukola Saraki, former president of Nigerian Senate, was appointed Special Envoy; Anyim Pius Anyim, also, former Senate President, Special Adviser; Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Special Adviser; Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Governor, Special Adviser; and Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Special Adviser. Uche Secondus, former National Chairman, People Democratic Party, PDP, appointed Technical Adviser.

Paul Ibe’s statement said that all the appointments took immediate effect. Atiku charged the appointees to use their vast political experiences in ensuring that the PDP presidential campaign recorded resounding success in the 2023 election.

Nyesom Wike, according to analysts, on the current events, in the opposition People Democratic Party, PDP, and some of his allies, have been brewing crisis in the party. They argued that Wike is gradually crowning himself, an “emperor”, a “bullish” and “combatant” governor of Rivers State, with bloated ego in his quest for recognition and power.

On Arise News Television, interview, last Friday afternoon, Sam Amadi, a university teacher, and Arise News Analyst, described Wike as a “strong guy with clay foot”. Alluding to the possible consequences of the Wike led-crisis in the PDP.  If they do not shift ground, Wike, he said, may come out heavily bruised in the fight against his party.
